Germany has traditionally 5 diferent letters on every and each (maybe there are some exceptions) issue of coins. As you found by yourself those letters are: A, D, F, G and J.

Every letter is mark for different mint in Germany:
A - Berlin
D - Munich,
F - Stuttgart
G - Karlsruhe
J - Hamburg.

I hope you find explanation useful.

Not my personal case, but there might be people interested in differentiate the collected coins by their mints, so, probably a nice feature to add?
